Sandra Scragg
Born in South Africa and having traveled the world with her diplomat parents, Sandra settled in the beautiful Pacific Northwest where she is happily married with two children and their beloved golden retriever. She holds a BA degree in modern languages specializing in French literature and speaks seven languages.
Sandra started out on stage at the very young age of 6 years old and she continued to act well through her formative years. After retiring from a rewarding career of running the hotel operations of a major cruise line to stay home with her children, Sandra took up the theatre reins once again and started teaching drama and went on to become an award-winning competition theatre coach. It was during this time that she fell in love with casting.
10 years later, she started out in film and is now an award-winning actor with over 35 films, commercials, industrials, and TV/new media projects under her belt. Friends and colleagues started asking Sandra to help cast their films which she absolutely loved doing and went on to become a casting associate with Nike Imoru Casting, CSA.
“Casting is such an important and integral part of the creative process of producing a film and when you nail your casting, your project is 50% there in terms of talent; plus we get to make the director’s job so much easier! Casting is instinctive to a large extent, and I get very excited when I see the magic of the perfect person for a certain role – because that is what it is – pure magic!”
“I particularly love working with young, up-and-coming filmmakers – indie filmmakers – there is such a passion and energy around them. Even if they are working with tiny budgets – I am always willing to help – because being able to support these wonderful, creative beings that are starting out is a way I can give back. I also love lifting up our actors – gently guiding them in each audition to be the best that they can be. If an actor is new and nervous, I get to call them in time and again and am able to watch the transformation that takes place as experience and confidence grow – it’s amazing and incredibly rewarding.”
